DAY 13..jinny iz in belize riting blogz n stuf (thanks kelsey..hehe)

HEY! thanks for all the comments. i really miss you guys too! i have been expierencing some difficulties here in Belize. Not going to lie. ha. I am currently pretty homesick. Which it has been bad for the past couple of days. There was actually a time where i was for sure going to go back. But then i thought to myself. WTF. why would i do that? yes i miss all of you and my house and pretty much west des moines (ha lame huh), but i guess i've been given an opportunity to come here and plus they chose me so i guess i have a responsibility right? I'll make it through. and knowing you guys got my back makes it soo much easier. Plus i got 14 kids here all rooting for me too. :)
So onward with my activities. I've been at my homestay for about 4 days now. and the community service. We are rebuilding and cleaning up the woman's center and repainting the health center, and leading a clean up crew (which i'm most excited for). Plus, I get to teach the community some miming because we have to put a show on for the villagers later on this week. WOO! see i am spreading the joy of miming. I hope your proud Baker's Dozen. The village is called crooked tree, and there are about 900 people here. It is competly different from Iowa. I mean IOwa might be known for its farm lands and stuff, but this place has it beat. Ha. There are fucking cows everywhere. Or as my roomie Anna likes to call them, BEARCOWS. Because they seriously sound like bears. We have to walk home in the dark sometimes, so they are just there looking at us. It's actually kind of terrifying. But now i've gotten used to it. ha. I like in a family with Miss Ava(mom), Michael (dad), Teri (10 yr. old brother), Michael (19 year old brother), and Ashton (1 year old brother). Its a pretty big family since a lot of the times there are relatives over. Me and Anna also live the farthest away from the community center, so we had like a 30 minute walk there every morning, and we have to make like 6 trips back and forth every day. And the expieriment won't let us get bikes with out helmets. Ha. Lame huh? but i guess i'm getting a good workout. WOO. Belizean life is pretty laid back, which is a pretty big change for me. I guess at home i'm pretty busy all day, with my various activities, and here people are just always chilling. It feels nice, but at the same time, i'm like antsy because i feel like i should be doing something. ha. I guess i'll just have to get used to it. We also got to experience some belizean nightlife. ha. What else is a 19 year old brother good for? He took me and the other girls to this house party place, and that was pretty interesting. I will use a quote from a kid named matt on the trip to explain how it was, "It's funny how you can be thousands of miles away, and in a completly different country, but still, everything is the same." Ha. They just had like a speaker set and played music and we just went crazy dancing. You should have seen me break out the sprinkler. I have made America proud. Ha. I hope they don't think all americans have no rhythm like i do. It was kinda funny because there were like Belizean guys there (BTW lauren the people here are a mix of all different kinds of races. a lot of them are kriol(which is like a spanish/white mix, some are african american, and there are even a lot of asians here, who would've thunk?) and they just creepily watched us. I have some good pictures to show everyone when i get back just to show how creepy they really were. Today we are going spear fishing (Wish me luck i hope i don't spear myself or the others), and then our brother is taking us out to like a karoake/dance place. WOO. ha. That kid really knows how to party. He doesn't come home until like 4 every night. I am truely amazed. How can he do that? and he did it for like 4 nights straight. ha. I'll make sure to make an ass out of myself and sing a great song for everyone there. I'll try to get on the internet more often and i hope you guys are all having fun back at home. I love and miss you guys still!

-Jinny

p.s. i can't wait to come home to the robot sex lucy. Ha. You cannot do that without me. So just get all the supplies ready for when i get home ok Girlfriend? and tell me how wall-e was Missy. And you are watching it with me when i get home ok? hehe

WOOOOOOOOOO

Hey Guys! sorry i haven't been online or written anything on this blog yet. It turns out that internet service is very very rare here. Right now i am actually sitting in a internet cafe in Belmopan, the capital city. What suprised me about Belize the most so far on this trip is probably the friggen amount of mosquitos here. It is disguisting. Right now my legs are currently purple and swollen. A gross combination. And I am always sweaty. The humidity is pretty crazy. I like it here though. Its really really pretty. So....about my trip so far. We are staying at this place called Monkey Bay and it is like a little camp. All 12 girls are bunking together in this little room. And thank god for the mosquito nets. That is the thing that i am grateful for buying. Then we all have our meals together in this little cafeteria room and then theres this little outdoors cabana thing with a bunch of hamocks. (SP?) ha. That is my favorite place to spend my time. So before i kinda assumed that maybe there would be you know some sort of washing device for my clothes, but man was i suprised. One day we all took our clothes and washed them in the river. I think they actually got dirtier since all my whites turned into yellow. Ha. I am also not a snake and spider kind of girl. I'm not going to lie and say that those things don't scare the living shit outta me. I was going outside at night to go to the rest room, and then right when i opened the door, there was this huge tarantula just sitting here. Needless to say, I pretty much screamed and ran out. Ha. how lame am I. Then there are these little bugs called the botfly (don't know if thats spelled right) but they crawl under your skin and lay eggs, and there are plenty of them here. I pray that i do not have the misfortune of getting one. but knowing me and my luck, i'll come back with a whole family of them in my arm. hehe. We also went to this place with this huge waterfall and that was probably the best part of the trip. I jumped off a cliff into the water! now i can check that off my list of things to do. WOO. We also went caving and that was really sweet. They pretty much just gave us flashlights and were like ok kids. go explore. We don't have too many boundaries here. Which is a good thing. I got all muddy and we got to go see some mayan pottery. I'll try to get back on soon. i only have 15 minutes on this computer. Tommorow is my homestay so i'll write about that next time. Miss and love you guys!
